Organic Mountain Rooibos Tea 50g, tea bags
Kromme Valley Farm
Where heat and dryness create quality
Schalk-Willem Laing is the fifth generation to run the Kromme Valley Farm. This rooibos farm is located in the eastern, hilly Sandveld region, famous for its premium rooibos teas. The Rooibos Farm covers an area of 2600 hectares and is located 30 kilometers north of Clanwilliam. Schalk-Willem cultivates rooibos on 700 hectares and harvests around 170 tons of this aromatic plant every year.
Schalk-Willem is completely committed to organic farming and consistently avoids fertilizers and pesticides. After six years of harvest, the rooibos bushes are plowed under in the seventh year and the ground is left fallow for three years. While the stream is lying, the soil can naturally recover and replenish its nutrients. Planting catch crops is deliberately avoided.
This consistent commitment to organic farming and the influences of the hot, dry easterly winds often result in seed failure and rooibos bushes remaining at their natural growth rate, resulting in lower crop yields. Nevertheless, with this cultivation philosophy, Schalk-Willem Laing has created one of the highest quality rooibos teas on the market under his rooibos tea brand 'Royal Mountain'
